The Academy
Make Performance your purpose
We at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama believe that ultimately, it’s performance that lies at the heart of creative and artistic success. Whatever your specialism across Drama and Music, Technical and Production Arts, Dance or Digital Film and Television, your own personal performance - the ability to raise your game when it really counts - will be crucial in your future artistic journey through life.
Scotland has a deservedly great reputation for world-class education. We boast the world's youngest and most innovative National Theatre, resurgent opera and ballet companies, three outstanding orchestras and one of the liveliest performing arts scenes in Europe. It’s a country that has put culture at its centre.
At the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama we follow this tradition of excellence and are also a fundamental part of its creation. We are unique in the UK for being the only conservatoire to offer drama, music and dance, as this year we welcome our first students in Modern Ballet in partnership with Scottish Ballet, adding to our long history of innovation and pushing boundaries into new territories of learning and exploration.
We are immensely proud of all our students, our excellent teaching staff, our wonderful facilities and the superb range of professional collaborations and initiatives we nurture so carefully across all disciplines. Testament to this is the fact we are ranked 3 rd for drama and 4 th for music education in the UK. (Guardian University Guide 2010).
And in our location too, we excel. Glasgow is one of Europe’s liveliest cities with a vibrant and colourful social scene, some of the best shopping in the world, thriving music and performance venues and some increasingly renowned international festivals.
Come and discover the Academy for yourself and make performance your purpose. We look forward to welcoming you.
