Centre for Voice in Performance
Currently, the Centre’s practice-based research includes the continued investigation of its core technique, the vocal technique of Nadine George, in a variety of contexts. These include:
- Earthing the Electric: A research project in conjunction with professional directors to examine the application of the Centre’s voice work to the director’s process and rehearsal performance practice.
- Performance Stress: The Role of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing in Voice Training: Hilary Jones, in partnership with Marilyn O'Connor, an experienced EMDR psychologist, is investigating the links between the Nadine George Voice technique and EMDR.
- What we may be: the integration of Lecoq movement and George voice work at the RSAMD: An examination of the relationship between the Academy’s voice and movement training in performance programmes.
- Crossing the Divide: This research looks at the how the Centre’s vocal technique can be used alongside established musical theatre voice practices to evolve a ‘one voice’ approach to Musical Theatre training.
