BA Acting
BA Acting is a three year undergraduate degree for motivated performers of outstanding ability who
want to become professional actors. Small class sizes, highly experienced staff and unrivalled
industry contacts make the School of Drama one of Europe’s leading providers in vocational drama
training.

The usual working week is Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, though it is usual for production and student generated work to continue in the evenings and over weekends.

What you will learn
Studying on the BA Acting course you will learn to:
- Understand and communicate the meaning of text through its translation into physical, verbal and psychological action
- Use sophisticated observation and imaginative skills in characterisation
- Handle the intellectual, vocal and physical stylistic demands of a variety of theatre forms
- Develop strong improvisational skills and high degree of physical and vocal articulation and flexibility
- Work effectively and creatively as an individual artist and in collaboration with others
- Develop critical and analytical skills in research, reflection and evaluation
- Understand your profession in its historical and contemporary contexts
- Be an employable and entrepreneurial self-managing artist in an increasingly demanding
profession
How you will learn
You will work with highly experienced teaching staff and visiting actors, directors and
writers with regular opportunities to take part in specialist workshops and masterclasses.

Graduate Destinations
Students are prepared for a wide range of diverse careers. Graduates from the course are
working all over the world as performers, as well as directors, producers, and teachers. Over 90%
of students are in employment or further training within six months of
graduation.

During the month of August the School of Drama runs a variety of challenging
Summer Schools
including acting
courses taught by programme staff in the Royal Conservatoire venues.
