BA CPP
Our students tell us that studying on the CPP degree programme is like nothing you could ever imagine. It will shift all your expectations. It’s total immersion in a challenging four-year undergraduate degree for aspiring performance makers who wish to work collaboratively and develop skills as performers, directors, and cultural leaders.
The scope of the programme is massive. You will be able to explore the realization of ideas through the disciplines of performance, education, installation, movement, research, and documentation. You will develop your performance skills and connect with practicing artists. You will push yourself and push boundaries, creating new works with image, action, sound, and text. And eventually you will leave the Royal Conservatoire as an independent and entrepreneurial self-managing artist.
In one sense, BA CPP could be the programme for you if you are passionate about performance, but you’re unsure of what you’d specifically like to do in the field.
You have to want to explore your place in the world, and be prepared to question what performance is, and your own practice. It’s really important that you are able to articulate what interests you, what politicizes you, and any confusion or questions that you might have.
Throughout your time with us, you will be encouraged to claim your own education. We’ll give you a huge amount of freedom, but you will need to be able to take control of your learning in order to make the most of a less structured and forward-thinking approach. You will be constantly challenged, but you will also be supported, by us, and your classmates. You will develop your performance skills in our world-class facilities, and we’ll give you as many opportunities as we can in professional contexts.
A major strength of our programme is that we encourage our students to be outward-facing whilst at the same time taking advantage of all the fantastic opportunities which come with attending an energetic and dynamic Conservatoire. We expect our students to surprise us. If you can tell us what you want to do, and why, then we will help you do it.
During the month of August the School of Drama runs a variety of challenging Summer Schools including a devising course taught by CPP programme staff in the Royal Conservatoire venues.
