MA Musical Theatre (Performance or Musical Directing)

This 1-year practical Masters is designed to train advanced performers to sustain a professional career in Musical Theatre. If you are interested in this course, you should have a degree in the arts or equivalent performing experience. The course will provide a safe environment for technical development and creative expansion through skill base training and a very specific range of projects. We believe that applicants should have something to say and contribute towards the musical theatre form as an expressive medium and we are always looking to support and encourage unique interpretative artistic development.

Technical classes will focus on acting, singing, and dance in an environment that seeks to synthesise skill base and artistry. The wide range of project work provides opportunity for the integration of skills and creative thought with a focus on artistic growth . There is an exciting range of performance opportunities, including: the Big Band Concert season, solo Cabaret performances in a local cabaret venue, a full season of work at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and an Industry Showcase in Glasgow and in London. In addition, projects are prepared for internal showings through company scenes, naturalist acting and choreography design, where students will come in touch with a range of industry professionals.  The full course is supported by specialised one-to-one vocal training, repertoire coaching and entrepreneurial support to reinforce and refine skills within this professional setting.
