Junior Academy of Music
How to Apply
RSAMD Junior Academy offers talented individuals between the ages of 9 and 18 the opportunity
to explore the world of music and develop their musical skills. We are looking for students
with musical ability and potential even if, in the case of younger applicants, the playing is not
technically advanced.
Open Day
Saturday 20 November 2010.
There is one Open Day each year in November.
Auditions
Entry is by audition which takes place from late February until the mid May each year for
entry the following September.
Audition Requirements
The audition will include:
- A performance of two contrasting pieces in the principal study
- Scales and arpeggios or broken chords in the principal study
- A performance of one piece in the subsidiary study (if applicable)
- Sight-reading
- Aural tests
- An informal discussion which will explore the applicant’s musical interests and aspirations
- An accompanist will be provided but applicants may bring their own if they prefer.
Places
Applications should be made to the Junior Academy by 11 December 2009. Forms can be downloaded and sent with a non-returnable deposit of £30.
