Royal Conservatoire Conducting Fellowship
We offer a highly prestigious conducting fellowship to the value of
£10,000 per annum. This position is normally tenable for a one year period and the
recipient of the next award will start wih us in September 2012.
The conducting fellow will play a major role in a wide variety of our
performance activities, ranging from Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, to Contemporary Music
Ensembles and Opera, in both rehearsal and performance, and will work closely with the our
specialist tutors, conducting consultants and visiting conductors.
The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland has extensive professional links,
and the fellow will benefit from unique and varied opportunities offered in collaboration with
organisations such as Scottish Opera and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. In addition, the
fellow will also act for eight weeks as assistant to Donald Runnicles, Principal Conductor of
the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
Closing date for applications is 1 December 2011 and shortlisted
candidates will be notified by 1 January 2012. Live auditions will be held in Glasgow in
February 2012.
