Musicworks
Musicworks: Facts and Figures
RSAMD Musicworks operates 12 centres throughout Scotland providing
music education to 800 children across a wide geographical spread of venues and communities.
Musicworks works alongside Local Authorities, schools and community organisations at a grass roots
level, offering its expertise on a long term basis, and is guided by the following
principle:
‘....to take music participation to people who would otherwise not
have access to it, not through the RSAMD imposing what it perceives the community needs but by
asking local communities at grassroots level the question- " How can we help?" or by responding to
the request "Can the RSAMD help us?"’
RSAMD Musicworks - some facts and figures:
- 800+ children receive instrumental, musicianship and groupwork/orchestral tuition on a weekly, long term basis across a multitude of disciplines and traditions, in groups and individually
- 2,000 receive our shorter term and workshop programmes
- 45 public concerts per year
Each Musicworks centre is part of a network linked to the experience and expertise of the RSAMD, yearly cross-centre residential courses, bring children together from different geographic regions to learn and perform together currently working in partnership with 8 Local Authorities providing tuition to students between the ages of 7 and 18.
