RSAMD Announces Honours for Summer 2010

The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama will this summer confer four honorary doctorates of the RSAMD.
 
The summer line up will include  one of the world’s most distinguished Jazz musicians, Martin Taylor, Scots poet and novelist Jackie Kay, Francis Reid, one of the world’s leading lighting designers and one of Scotland’s finest folklorists, the internationally renowned academic and singer, Margaret Bennett.
 
They will receive their Honorary Doctorates from Academy Principal Professor John Wallace at the Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday July 6 2010
 
On announcing the Awards, Professor Wallace said: “I am delighted that Martin, Margaret, Francis and Jackie are joining the Academy family. They are pioneers of teaching and performance and I am excited about their commitment to the Academy. It is only fitting that the Academy should honour them in this way.”
 
Other recipients of an Academy Honorary Degree include Lord Richard Attenborough, Billy Connolly, Tilda Swinton, Annie Lennox, Vladimir Ashkenazy, James MacMillan and Phil Cunninham.
