Repetiteurship
Students on the MMus Repetiteurship course work and study as part of the
internationally reputable Alexander Gibson Opera School. In their studies they will work regularly
with resident staff: Timothy Dean, Head of Opera, Duncan Williams Head of Music Preparation and
Julia Lynch all of whom have considerable professional experience both nationally and
internationally. They will also have the opportunity to work with Derek Clark (Head of Music
Scottish Opera) and other Scottish Opera Music Staff and to see and hear them in action.
The course offers a wide range of appropriate experience and opportunity, ranging
from playing for classes, opera scenes, full production rehearsals, playing as part of the
orchestra, or as continuo player, in performances and, where appropriate, conducting.
Previous students who have studied this discipline at the RSAMD have gone on to
study and work at the highest level; at the National Opera Studio, the Jette Parker Young Artists
Programme at the Royal Opera House, Scottish Opera and other Opera Houses in Europe.
