Graduates of our Woodwind Department are featured in orchestras around the world. The next wave of talented wind players competes for this prestigious prize.

Saxophone Department Concert, 1.00pm, Guinness Room

Led by Royal Consevatoire staff member, the inimitable Joe Pacewicz of the RSNO, saxophones are given their chance to shine.
 
 
Thursday 2 nd February
Royal Conservatoire Wind Orchestra- Winds of Change 7.30pm, Stevenson Hall

We are delighted to welcome John Logan to the Royal Conservatoire as Head of Brass. Familiar already to Scottish music lovers from his years in the French horn section of the RSNO, here John shares baton duty with Nigel Boddice.

Trio Verlaine featuring Lorna McGhee1.00pm, Stevenson Hall

International Fellow Lorna McGhee brings her Trio Verlaine, an enchanting ensemble of flute, viola and harp based in Canada, for a visit to her native Scotland.
 
 
Friday 17 th February
Corti on the Mediterranean, 7.30pm, City Halls

Francesco Corti is well-known to Scottish audiences as the dynamic Music Director of Scottish Opera. This concert is a chance to see him out of the pit as he leads our own Symphony Orchestra in music from his homeland with two of Respighi’s famous tone poems, Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome. As well as there is music from Spain in de Falla’s Three Cornered Hat, and from France with the virtuosic Rapsodie by Debussy, featuring one of our star clarinet students Fraser Langton.

Flute Department Concert, 1.00pm, Guinness Room

Fabulous flautists are featured in various formations, with piano and in ensemble
