Tamas Fejes

Strings

Instrument(s):  Violin

I was born into a musical family in the south of Hungary. At the age of ten I won second prize in a national violin competition, and when I was eighteen I started to study at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. While studying at the Academy I won second prize in the Academy competition, and gave numerous recitals and performances on radio and television.

In 1990 I won a scholarship which enabled me to continue my studies in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Béla Dékány and later David Takeno. I have participated in several festivals and masterclasses given by Lóránd Fenyves, Bruno Canino, Reiner Kussmaul, Mark Zinger among others. In the summer of 1993 and 1994 I was invited to be a professor assistant at the Waterloo Festival School of Music (New Jersey, USA).

I have led and co-led various orchestras in Germany, and have played with the English Chamber Orchestra and Northern Sinfonia.

Between 1994 and 2003 I was co-principal of the 2nd violins in the Philharmonia Orchestra of London. Currently I am assistant leader of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. I am gaining great pleasure from devoting my time to playing recitals and playing with my piano trio with whom I have had numerous appearences in the UK and in Europe.
