Kurt Hans Goedicke

Kurt-Hans Goedicke Hon.RAM, was born and educated in Berlin, Germany. He graduated with Honours from U.d.K (Universität der Kϋnste, formerly fϋr Musik).

He has held the following positions as Principal Timpanist:

10 years               Principal Timpanist,  RTE SO Dublin, Ireland

1964 -  2000        Principal Timpanist, London Symphony Orchestra

2000 -  current     Principal Timpanist Emeritus,  London Symphony Orchestra

He had held the following teaching positions:

Two years            Professor for Timpani, Guildhall School of Music and Drama

1993                     Professor for Timpani, Royal Academy of Music

1994 - 2000        Head of Timpani and Percussion, Royal Academy of Music

2000 - 2004        Senior Professor of Timpani, Royal Academy of Music

2004 - current     Distinguished Fellow in Timpani and Percussion and Head of Department,
                              Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama

Kurt Hans Goedicke has held masterclasses all over the world including in Tokyo, Berlin, New York and the UK. In 2008/2009, he was tutor and coach to EUYO.
