Emmanuel Laville

Emmanuel is an Oboe tutor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Born in France in 1982,
Emmanuel Laville started studying oboe at the age of twelve. In 2006, he
graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse, Paris in David Walter's
class. A year later, he entered the Academy of the Bavarian Radio Orchestra in Munich,
coached by Stefan Schilli.
He won second prize at the Prague Spring Festival International Oboe Competition in 2008, as
well as second prize at Paris/Ville d'Avray in 2007. In 2003 he also won third prize at the
Jean Françaix Paris International Oboe Competitions. He has been a member of several youth
orchestras, such as the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the
Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra, where he had the opportunity to play under the baton
of Valery Gergiev, Christoph Eschenbach, Zubin Mehta, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Paavo
Järvi.
As a soloist, Emmanuel performed the Mozart Oboe Concerto in Prague in 2008 and the Martinů
Oboe Concerto two years earlier in Paris. In November 2008, Emmanuel began his new position
as Principal Oboe at the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
