Janet is the Piccolo tutor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Janet Richardson became principal piccolo player in the RSNO in 1984, after studying
at University of Lancaster and RNCM with Trevor Wye and Pat Morris. Janet has
also appeared on piccolo with most of the major orchestras in the UK including
BBCSO, RPO, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, RLPO, BSO, BBCSSO, Scottish Opera and
Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and on first flute with RSNO, BBCSSO, City of Birmingham Symphony
Orchestra and BSO.
She has also appeared as a soloist with the RSNO on both piccolo and flute. Janet has
been the piccolo tutor at RSAMD for almost seventeen years and is married with two
teenage sons.
