Rosie is an Oboe tutor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Rosie Staniforth has been Sub-Principal Oboe with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra since 1998.
She read Modern Languages at Oxford University before being awarded a post-graduate scholarship to
The Royal College of Music where she studied with Michael Winfield and John Anderson. She continued
her musical studies at the Geneva Conservatoire with Maurice Bourgue where she achieved a 'Diplome
de Virtuosite' with Distinction. She subsequently won a place on the prestigious 'Troisieme Cycle'
course at the Paris Conservatoire and went on to win several prizes at international oboe
competitions.
She has worked with most of the UK's leading orchestras, often playing principal oboe, and
regularly performs as a concerto soloist as well as maintaining an active interest in chamber
music. She has been the oboe tutor of The National Youth Orchestra of Scotland since 2005.
