Our Priorities

Renewing Renfrew Street

The RSAMD Renfrew Street building was first opened in 1988 for 440 students. And we now boast over 750 full-time students over the brodest range if disciplines of any UK conservatoire. We want to refurbish many areas of this building so that we can continue to offer the best facilities to our students and the wider community.

What we have achieved so far:

  • The Groves Studio has been transformed to become our first  dance studio for the first cohort of BA Modern Ballet students (completed summer 2009)
  • We have a rejuvenated New Athenaeum Theatre, in its first refurbishment since it first opened in 1988 (completed summer 2009)

Future plans:

  • Refurbishment of the Academy Concert Hall, Lecture Theatre, Library and Learning Resource, Chandler Theatre and Guinness Room (2010 - 2014)
  • Our Technical and Production Arts facilities will move up to their new home at Speirs Locks Studios, and the space left behind will be transformed into new rehearsal spaces, much needed practice rooms and a recording studio (2010 – 2014)
