Stevenson Winds

The wonderful Stevenson Winds led by the effervescent star of the clarinet, Maximiliano Martín, Principal of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra offer a diverse programme balancing Francaix’s light-hearted ‘Le Gay Paris’ against the darkly passionate utterances of  Mozart’s undoubted masterpiece C minor wind Serenade K. 388. McGuire’s Wind Octet completes the line-up and is a specific programme choice, as McGuire’s love of Mozart’s wind Serenades strongly influenced this work

Le Gay Paris – Francaix

Wind Octet – McGuire

Serenade in C minor – Mozart

Monday Lunchtime Concert Series

Royal Scottish Academy Woodwind - Bassoons

Today's lunchtime concert is brought to you by the bassoon students from the RSAMD's Woodwind Department performing works which showcase the bassoon in various guises. The RSAMD's team of bassoon staff, David Hubbard (RSNO), Janet Bloxwich & Alan Warhurst (Scottish Opera) and Alison Green & Peter Whelan (Scottish Chamber Orchestra), prepare the students for life outside the Academy to the highest level. Such is the standard of playing, RSAMD bassoonists have an increasingly high prospect of performing with Scotland's professional orchestras and ensembles once they graduate as well as whilst still a student.

Today's concert has been co-ordinated by recent RSAMD graduate Fraser Gordon and ensembles coached by Fraser Gordon and Alison Green.

We take you back in time, romance you, take you dancing in South America, make you laugh, then all 7 students will walk you down the aisle...!
